Free Workout Timer
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
Here’s a website that has a free workout timer that can simulate the rounds in boxing, kickboxing, or any sort of sport or activity that requires intervals. It only works on your computer, so it’s a pretty awesome tool for those of you who workout by your computer in a round-by-round fashion.
You can run it from the website itself, or download the HTML and sound files onto your computer. I’d suggest to go for the download, because you never know when your internet connection might be down while you’re working out at home.
In the past I’ve created my own MP3 files to simulate a workout timer, but the problem with that is if you wanted to do 2 minute rounds instead of 3 minutes, or have a 30 second rest period instead of 1 minute, etc., you’d have to make a new MP3 file.
The good thing about the Speedbagforum.com Workout Timer is that you can customize your own work and rest times. Here are some other features you can adjust on this countdown timer:
• Round length
• Rest length
• When the “warning bell” should go off
• When the timer should start
• Count down or count up
• Font size (so you can better see how much time you have left if you happen to have a small monitor)
So far I’ve used it for thai pad training and shadowboxing at 3 minutes of work and 1 minute rest, but I’m going to try it out using Tabata intervals (20 second sprints and 10 seconds break).
It’s a pretty flexible timer, but the only thing I can see that it can’t simulate is uneven rounds, like Pride FC’s 10 minutes for the first round and 5 minutes during the consecutive rounds.
So if you work out by your computer, be sure to check out this workout timer.
Use this out along with a play list of your favourite workout music and you got yourself a pumpin’ workout (DJ Tiesto for me :P)
Here’s a screenshot of the workout timer:
