Rogers Knocks Out Arlovski
Rogers came to the fight with a very respectable 9-0 record, but even with a record like this, he took the place of underdog against jiu-jitsu legend and former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovsky.
For twenty-one seconds the two warriors circled each other, looking for an opening, testing each others confidence, looking for weaknesses, openings for a strike. On the twenty-second second, Rogers did what no one would have guessed. In one thundering blow, he delivered Andrei Arlovski not only to the ground, but to the realization that he was not as unbeatable as his self confidence might have told him.
He met the ground with a resounding thud that was heard across the nation. In front of twelve thousand people, Rogers proved himself to be not only a worthy opponent, but one of the best in his field of fighting.
Arlovski, who had been thinking about going for the heavyweight boxing title, had that thought forcibly removed from his head, for the time being, by one powerful punch from the expected underdog of the fight. His confidence may have played a role in his demise but that’s in no way discounting the power and talent of Rogers. Only time will tell where these two go from here.
