Kyokushin Karate vs Drunken Boxing and Wing Chun Kung Fu

Check out this clip of Kyokushin Karate vs Drunken Boxing and Wing Chun Kung Fu.

It looks as though the Drunken Boxing practictioners were putting more effort in looking drunk than to actually hit their opponent!

There’s no knockouts, but there’s a few decent head kicks and a lot of drunkeness.

Enjoy:

Catfight: Willa Ford VS Paris Hilton

Taken from MMA Weekly (who referenced http://femalefirst.co.uk):

“Willa Ford Fights Off Hilton With Bodyguard Warning”

Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter’s ex-girlfriend Willa Ford avoided a Las Vegas, Nevada, nightclub fight with Paris Hilton by warning the heiress’ handlers that her best friend is ultimate fighting champion Chuck Liddell.

Ford, who dated Carter years before Hilton fell for the pop star in 2004, was unnerved when Hilton made a point of prowling in front of her booth at the Hard Rock Hotel – and decided to take action before The Simple Life star said something she’d later regret.

Ford, a former singer-turned-Ultimate Fighting personality, recalls, “We were sitting in a private booth and Paris wouldn’t stop walking back and forth in front of us.

“Chuck went over to her security guards and said, ‘Listen, you see all those guys over there? We’re with Willa Ford. If Paris comes closer and Willa snaps, I can’t help anything. If you get in there and you touch Willa, we’re all throwing down on you guys.’”

Hilton kept her distance and reportedly apologised to Ford when the two girls met at Playboy Mansion Hallowe’en Party last year.

Ford adds, “She took the high road and we’re cool now.”

Will We Start Seeing Chinese People Compete in MMA Soon?

Throughout the history of Pride Fighting, the UFC, and other Japanese and North American mixed martial arts competition, I have not seen, heard, or read about a single Chinese fighter.

Ever since the early days of MMA (NHB-no holds barred as they once called it), there have always been speculation about when we would see a Chinese fighter in a mixed martial arts event and how they would do.

There have been Kung Fu trained fighters in the UFC, but not a single Chinese fighter (that I know of) in any known competitions.

Well, just the other day I stumbled across MMA China.  It’s a website promoting the “Art of War Fighting Championship”, the Beijing Jiu-jitsu Academy and mixed martial arts to fans in mainland China.

They’ve already had a few MMA tournaments, and Wanderlei Silva, Rickson Gracie and even Dream Stage Entertainment CEO Sakakibara was in Beijing to check out the Chinese MMA scene.  (Here’s an interview with Wanderlei Silva and MMA China: http://www.mmachina.com/en/?q=node/77).

From the looks of it, it appears as though MMA is growing in China, and the day when we’ll see a Chinese fighter in the UFC or Pride FC seems inevitable.

As for the question about whether “Chinese” people will do well in mixed martial arts competition, I think that’s an irrelevant question. Here’s why…

Is Wanderlei Silva Part of the Thundercats?

I don’t know about you, but Wanderlei Silva has an eerie resemblance to “Panthro”, the nunchuck wielding engineer of the Thundercats (a popular cartoon show from the 80′s).

Take a look and judge for yourself…!

I’d like to thank my buddy “SmackGirl” for pointing this one out :P

Hawks UFC Pride MMA Gloves – The Perfect MMA Gloves for Sparring?

Check it out…I came across a pair of MMA gloves on eBay that looks perfect for sparring! They’re the the “Hawks MMA Sparring Gloves”, and it’s 10oz, well padded and looks pretty damn sturdy (not to mention an nice variety of colors :) ). You can see pictures of the MMA gloves here.

Most of the MMA gloves that I’ve come across has very little padding, so if you’re not careful when you’re sparring with them, you could hurt somebody (and end up losing a training partner!)

I have MMA gloves from Canbox.ca, and they make my fists feel like a couple of rocks…and definately not good for your sparring partner’s face!

Grappling with boxing gloves is safer, but very combersome once you get into situations where you have to take a grip on your training partner.

But…these Hawks mixed martial arts sparring gloves look like they have the cushioning of boxing gloves, and the open-hand design of MMA gloves.

I think I might order a couple in the future (very tempting). If I do, I’ll post a detailed review on the site.

Hawks also sells a variety of different types of MMA gloves, boxing gloves, and other martial arts equipment.

Check out thier eBay store (free shipping in the USA! Too bad not to Canada…bah):
